2012 Road Race & Fun Run

10K Road Race and 2.5K Fun Run - Sunday 6th May 2012
Thank you to everyone who came down today to run and support friends/family in the races! It was a really great day and we had a record breaking 1,150 people turn up out of those registered to run. You guys were all fantastic and really went to town with the fancy dress this year.
You can find the 10k Road Race results here and use their handy sharing feature to show off to your friends via Facebook. The 2.5k results should be uploaded to this site later on in the week and we apologise for the slight delay in making these available. We will also be uploading lots of photos/videos from the day to the 2012 Frimley Park Road Race/Fun Run Facebook Page later on in the week and look forward to updating you on the final fundraising total in a few weeks time once everyone has sent in their paper sponsorship forms. So far we are excited to report that you have helped us to raise a jaw-dropping £40,000! Thank you!
Thanks must also go to; the Cadets for their incredible level of organisation in whatever they were asked to do, the Blackwater Valley Scout Group for keeping everyone fed/watered, Radio Frimley Park for helping to host the day, local Zumba instructors Beth Coldwell (Sandhurst/Crowthorne) and Wahida Finlay (Wokingham/Winnersh/Bracknell) for spicing up our warm-up sessions, our sponsors below and last but not least all of the volunteers who gave up their Sunday mornings to help out in every area and generally make sure everything ran smoothly. We couldn't have done it without all of you.

In aid of the Saving Tiny Lives appeal for the Special Care Baby Unit at Frimley Park Hospital
The 2012 edition of our annual Road Race/Fun Run will be our biggest yet. With over 1,000 runners taking part last year across both races we are stepping things up to make this year's event even more fun for everyone involved.
Whatever your standard there is a race for you. Everyone who completes their race will receive a medal and there are lots of prizes for the best runners and the best fancy dress. Here are a few photographs taken at last year's event.
This year the 10k Road Race will use chip timing to record your run time in the most accurate way possible.
10k
For the more serious runners a 10k Road Race around Camberley and Frimley should put you through your paces. For the first time we are getting every Road Race runner’s performance measured by chip timing, so your result will be as accurate as possible. It will also involve less stress for us trying to count 1,000 people over the finish line! There are awards and prizes for winners in the six main categories.
2.5k
The 2.5k Fun Run around Frimley near to the hospital lets you take part without too much training and gives you the freedom to dress up in as extravagant a costume as possible. We are laying on a spread of prizes for the best fancy dress in the Fun Run so if you think you can stand out from the crowd as much as this runner did last year then give it your best shot!
- 10k starts at 10:30am and costs £14 to register
- 2.5k starts at 09:30am and costs £6 to register
Please arrive at least an hour before your race starts. Both races begin and end at Frimley Park Hospital and are fully marshalled. Water will be provided on the day.
Saving Tiny Lives Appeal
This year we are getting everyone together to run for the Saving Tiny Lives Appeal in aid of the Special Care Baby Unit at Frimley Park Hospital. This appeal is all about providing the best care for babies who are born into a struggle for survival. It will enable families to be closer to their little ones during treatment and give mother and baby as much contact as possible in those crucial early stages of life.
