Microbiology

The  microbiology department of Partnership Pathology Services, run jointly by Frimley Park and Royal Surrey County hospitals, has designed Micro Matters as a dedicated resource for General Practitioners.

Our intention is to present brief (one page) updates on topical subjects which are of interest and/or concern in general practice.

The first editions will include:

  • Treatment of multi-antibiotic resistant urinary tract organisms such as Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamase (ESBL) producing Escherichia coli
  • Treatment of soft tissue infections caused by Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and the PVL producing isolates of Staphylococcus aureus
  • Guidance on the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme Disease - the season will be starting soon

Updates will be posted here regularly. We aim to make this an interactive web page and welcome feedback and requests to cover topics of particular interest to you.

The primary consultant for Micro Matters is Dr Nigel Cumberland who can be contacted on:

  • Direct line: 01276 522412
  • Bleep through switchboard: 01276 604604
