While our core visiting times prove beneficial to patients and help ease parking and site congestion, the Trust recognises that some people have a real difficulty getting to the hospital in the evenings to visit their relatives and friends and still need to visit during the afternoon. People seeking an exception to these visiting hours should first ask the permission of the senior nurse in charge of the ward they wish to visit.

If the senior member of staff agrees, they will issue a named and dated visitor exception permit which can be presented when next visiting in the afternoon.

Consideration of all patients
We ask that all our visitors are mindful that the patient they are visiting may tire easily and, as other patients on the ward may be resting, to please keep noise to a minimum during their visit.

You may find our visiting advice leaflet helpful. This can be found in several locations around the hospital, or click on the link to the right to download a copy.

No smoking
Please note that smoking is not allowed anywhere within the hospital or its grounds.

Infection prevention and control

The Trust considers the safety of its patients as a top priority and has a raft of measures in place to protect against the spread of infections like MRSA and Clostridium difficile. You can help us protect our patients by using the hand gel available from dispensers positioned at the front of the hospital, at the entrance and exit of all wards and at the patients' bedside.
